We read I Survived the San Francisco Earthquake, 1906 this week. We used our knowledge of force to design a straw rocket. It was Roadrunner week. On Thursday, we wore our pajamas to dream big.

Students who read 20 or more days during December got to have a silly string reading reward. We earned a class snowball party because of good behavior in December and we finally got to play with some sock snowballs. We worked on sequencing as we read about important events in history. Three cheers for these students who had PERFECT attendance during the first trimester of school!
Ms. McDonald came to review the 7 Hats of Thinking with us. She read the Red Racer to us. We celebrated Dominicus' birthday. We celebrated Tyler's half birthday. We spent a lot of time this week with square inches and square centimeters to study area. We were able to measure during Hands on Science. We saw our art everyday when we walked through the sky room. We traveled to Iceland. We learned that a natural resource they have is geothermal energy and there are many ways that they use this incredible resource. We learned that a Cuban tradition is to watch fireworks on December 25th. We had a visit from a member of the Rotary Club and he brought each member of our class a dictionary. We spent two sessions in art working on a Solar System project. We got to see Ballet West perform Act 1 of the Nutcracker at Capitol Theater. We were introduced to the 7 Hats of Thinking by our ELP teacher, Ms. Mcdonald. We did an experiment with gravity during Hands on Science. We spent two art sessions working on a solar system picture.
