Students were the teachers during math. They taught another group how to do a two step story problem. We wrote similes about the characters of Roadrunner and Rattlesnake from our story, Roadrunner's Dance. Students had a blast at the eyeball party they earned with their good behavior. We elect to be Drug Free! We learned about different types of levers during Hands On Science. We spent time thinking about odd and even numbers. It was fun to team up with the Utah Grizzly's against drugs. We were able to do more science on Friday. We discovered that yeast is a living thing. We are observing crystals growing and going to decide if they are living or nonliving.

We celebrated Tim's birthday! Here is the image that describes Ryton, we celebrated his birthday during the first week of school.
These students were SUPER readers for the month of September! These students had perfect attendance in September! Here is a great essay written by Zoey this week:
Working together is a good way to solve a problem. First, people have different strengths. Animals in The Roadrunner's Dance have to stop snake from biting the villagers! So the animals decided to go to Desert Woman. They told her that she needed to help but when she did it alone she made it worse. But when everyone gave to create something to bring down snake it worked! Deer gave slender legs so he could out run snake. Eagle gave him strength, so he could hit snake. Next, you can't do it alone. In the book, Anansi Learns a Lesson, turtle and fish were getting tricked by Anansi. So turtle wants to give Anansi a taste of his own medicine! But turtle couldn't do it alone so he found fish to help. Fish had been tricked by Anansi many times before turtle. So fish was happy to help. Together they thought up a plan. The next day Turtle asked Anansi if he wanted to go to his house. Anansi quickly said "yes". At turtle's house fish was waited when Anansi came. He couldn't swim so fish told Anansi to hold stones but he just floated to the top. Finally, some problems are too big to do by yourself. In the book Deltona Goes Batty, people have to use bats because there are too many bugs. As you can see there are many ways to solve problems by working together. We had an amazing day hiking and learning at Red Butte Gardens on Thursday. We sorted word problems in math. Our categories were: arrays, equal groups, or area word problems. We finished up an art project with Ms. Fiefield. We know why square numbers got their name. We went to a hoedown this week! We worked on identifying the main idea and finding supporting details. We showed strategies to multiply and divide with 6.
