Students have amazing math strategies and are doing a great way of communicating their thinking. Mr. Wolfe visited our classroom for our yearly training on anti-harassment. Our stories this week were about culture and communities. Students came up with definitions for what culture is after sorting pictures. We had a bonus art time to work on the cloud project. The Jog-A-Thon was spectacular this year! Thanks to all who supported Highland Park! We appreciate you! Students started the event by warming up. There were bubbles, squirt guns, sanitizer, treats, and tunes. The rest of my pictures didn't load! Check back later and hopefully I'll have some more to share! We played quiz-quiz trade to generate equations that represented tape diagrams. We got to enjoy popsicles as a class reward for good behavior. We have been using tape diagrams to model multiplication and division. Students played Fan and Pick as a team builder activity and to practice choosing the correct ending mark in sentences. The students in room 181 do an amazing job of working together!
The tables are now teams! They decided on their names and created posters. We learned cooperative games that will be incorporated into our centers next week. We've been working with factors and products. We earned our first class reward: bubblegum! |
